PROPOSALS FOR USE OF LOCAL OPEN SPACE INCLUDING ALLOTMENTS
WEDNESDAY 5TH MAY at 6.30PM at
DAVIDSON'S MAINS PARISH CHURCH HALL
The Council's Open Space Strategy Team have arranged a public consultation to discuss a range of proposals for improved use of local open space in the area.
There is a requirement to register for this event. To do so please phone the Open Space Team on 469 3932 or email openspacestrategy@edinburgh.gov.uk.
The maps and local plans can be viewed at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/openspacesstrategy. Those for this area come under Almond Ward. The maps/local plans can also be viewed at Blackhall Library and also by clicking on the images below. The areas for the allotments are in bold lines.
ALLOTMENT PROPOSALS
The Council is proposing to create 2100 additional allotment sites to meet a significant shortage. Of this total over 50% are on the north west side of the city with over 30% within the Davidson’s Mains and Silverknowes area.
Proposed sites with plot numbers which may affect us are:
Silverknowes Farmland—north of the Castle towards the shore 559
Lauriston Castle - north east of the grounds behind the pavilion 72
Davidson’s Mains Park—north west area 35
Cramond Walled Garden - area inside walls 80
Gypsy Brae— area from road westwards towards Silverknowes 345
Total 1091

The proposals are currently out for consultation and the DMSA will be making representations to reflect local opinion. We would be very pleased to hear you views.

CONSULTATION ON ALLOTMENT PROPOSALS
The DMSA will be arranging a public meeting in Davidson’s Mains for a presentation by the City of Edinburgh Council on the Allotment Proposals followed by an open forum for discussion. T
The date and time has yet to be agreed but it will be well within the timescale for making representations to the Council (now extended to June 2010).
Those residents wishing early information about the proposals can attend the Barnton and Cramond Community Council meeting on Thursday 18th March at 7.30 pm at Cramond Kirk Hall when the Council’s Allotment Officer will be making a presentation followed by discussion.
