Muirhouse Park
The playing fields at Muirhouse Park which back on to the rear gardens of the houses in Silverknowes Green have been a source of vandalism and anti social behaviour for a the last few years. The long suffering residents have had to put up with golf balls hitting their windows and the foul language from teams which use the football pitch every Saturday and Sunday which makes it impossible for them to relax in their own back gardens.
Various attempts have been made to try to help them without any real success so we are very pleased that the new Neighbourhood Managers for Almond and Forth (for Muirhouse) together with the Councillors , the police and the organisers of the football are finally trying to sort things out.
A meeting took place on 29th July where all the problems were discussed with the residents and a number of specific actions were agreed . These include
- repairs to the damaged fencing and planting of fast growing bushes to provide natural screening.
- NO GOLF signs to be erected and to be enforced by the police.
- investigation to be given to moving the football pitch further away from the houses.
- improved liaison and communication with the local police
- tighter controls by referees and managers to eliminate bad behaviour during football matches.
A further meeting is to be arranged for some time in October to check on progress and the Association will be keeping a close eye on what is happening.
